Our Smart Makers open house last weekend at Garrett Park's Town Hall offered a glimpse of what can happen when children meet up with interesting ideas and materials and have time to explore and build in an open-ended workshop. Children worked together and parents joined in as they whipped up flowers and toolboxes out of lumber and found materials. One assembled a working windmill. Others made marshmallow catapults and sculpted wire birds. In an hour they showed the kind of creativity we will facilitate during the summer’s Discovery Camp at Tilden Middle School.
